Accessibility Statement

Conformance Status
TheCocktailAce.com aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Conformance means the website meets the success criteria at Levels A and AA. We have conducted an internal accessibility audit and applied a site-wide retrofit on May 20, 2026 to address known issues.
We use a combination of manual testing and automated tools (including Google Lighthouse and color contrast verification using the WCAG luminance formula) to evaluate conformance. We aim to maintain at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text and 3:1 for large text and meaningful non-text content.
What We Have Done
As part of our accessibility commitment, we have:
- Added skip-to-content links so keyboard users can bypass navigation
- Wrapped page content in semantic landmark regions (
<main>,<nav>,<footer>) so screen readers can navigate efficiently - Marked decorative emojis with
aria-hidden="true"so they are not announced as content by screen readers - Added accessible names (
aria-label,aria-expanded) to interactive elements such as the mobile navigation toggle - Verified color contrast ratios meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements using mathematical luminance calculation
- Used semantic HTML headings in a logical hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) so screen readers can present an outline
- Provided descriptive alternative text for informative images
- Ensured all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard alone
- Used visible focus indicators on links and buttons
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some areas of TheCocktailAce.com may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are aware of and working to address the following:
- Menu Maker tool: The interactive cocktail menu maker is being audited and updated as part of our v4.46 release. Some form labels, theme picker buttons, and drink add or remove controls may currently rely on visual cues rather than full programmatic labels. We are actively rebuilding these for full keyboard and screen-reader support.
- PDF output: Menus generated by the menu maker are visual PDFs and may not be fully tagged for screen reader navigation. The on-screen version of the menu remains the primary accessible source.
- Embedded video: Videos hosted on YouTube use YouTube's player, which provides auto-generated captions. Manual caption accuracy may vary.
- Third-party content: Pages that link to or display content from third-party services (Kit signup form, YouTube embeds) inherit those providers' accessibility characteristics, which we cannot directly control.
We are working to address these limitations as part of our ongoing development. If you encounter an issue not listed here, please let us know using the contact information below.
Browsers and Assistive Technology We Support
We design and test TheCocktailAce.com to work with the latest versions of major web browsers and assistive technologies:
- Browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge (current and previous major version)
- Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Operating systems: Windows 10 and later, macOS 11 and later, iOS 15 and later, Android 10 and later
If you use older browsers or assistive technology, some features may not be fully supported. We recommend keeping your software updated for the best experience.
