Bartesian^® Caramel Appletini Pod Review: Honest 9/10 Tasting Notes

I tasted the Caramel Appletini pod on my Bartesian^® Premier on the regular setting with Tito's vodka. It's one of the Halloween capsules, and I was excited to try it. The regular Bartesian^® Appletini is one of my favorite pods.

It earned a 9/10 from me on my first taste. My first sip got a "wow" out loud. It's smooth from start to finish, and only one thing kept it from a perfect score.

What Is the Caramel Appletini, Anyway?

Bartesian^® describes it as a smooth cocktail that mixes tart green apple with rich caramel. It uses vodka, and it's served in a martini glass.

It's a returning Halloween drink. Last year it was part of the Spooky Sips Collection, along with Witch's Heart and the Candyman Margarita. This year it's back in the 2026 Halloween Collection, and you can also buy it in its own box.

On bartesian.com, customers give it 4.9 out of 5 stars across 46 reviews, and every one of them says they'd recommend it. Honestly, I was surprised the count was that low. Witch's Heart has 383. After tasting it, I think the Caramel Appletini deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

Where Did the Appletini Come From?

The appletini started in Los Angeles in the late 1990s. At a West Hollywood restaurant called Lola's, bartender Adam Karsten mixed Ketel One vodka with a sour apple schnapps that had just come out. He called it the Adam's Apple Martini, and it was a hit. The name got shortened to the apple martini, and then to the appletini. Lola's closed in 2013, but the drink lives on.

Bartesian's Caramel Appletini takes that classic and adds caramel, which gives it a fall twist.

What Happens on the First Pour?

I made it on my Bartesian^® Premier with Tito's vodka on the regular strength setting. The machine made the drink right into my shaker with ice. I shook it and strained it into a martini glass.

Bartesian^® suggests garnishing it with apple slices, a caramel drizzle or a Sour Apple Sugar rim. I put an apple slice on the rim for the photos. Then I took it off before I tasted, and I skipped the drizzle and the rim.

Here's why. The first time I taste a pod, I want it plain. That's how I learn what the drink tastes like on its own. A caramel drizzle would add even more caramel to a drink that already has plenty. If you're hosting, go ahead and dress it up.

I also taste before I read Bartesian's description. That way the notes below are mine, not theirs.

It pours a hazy straw yellow, almost a light brown. Some of the Halloween drinks have shimmer. This one doesn't. It's a plain, pretty fall color.

Bring it to your nose and you get sweet caramel right away. I picked up only a little apple.

Then the first sip. Wow. I liked it right away. It leans much more toward caramel than apple.

I expected it to be really sweet, and it isn't. I'd call it balanced, leaning sweet. The sweetness builds a little as you keep sipping, but it never gets out of hand.

What stood out most is how smooth it is. It's smooth from the first sip to the last. It goes down almost too easily. This could be a dangerous drink, so pace yourself.

So why a 9 and not a 10? I wanted a little more apple. The caramel takes over. With a bit more apple, this would be a 10 for me.

One more honest note. I love caramel. That's probably a big part of why this drink hit so well with me. If caramel isn't your thing, knock a point off my score.

What Do the Tasting Notes Reveal?

How Does It Compare to Witch's Heart?

I tasted Witch's Heart first, then the Caramel Appletini later that same day. Witch's Heart had a slightly different taste at the very end of each sip. The Caramel Appletini didn't. It was smooth from the first sip to the last.

Could a Regular Appletini Add More Apple?

Here's an idea I'm excited to try. Make one Caramel Appletini and one regular Appletini. Pour them together, mix, and split it into two drinks.

My thinking is that the regular Appletini would bring more apple into the glass, and that's the one thing I wanted more of. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to. When I do, I'll share how it turns out.

Which Vodka Should You Use?

I used Tito's, a clean unflavored vodka, and it worked well. The vodka disappeared into the drink, with no bite on regular.

Final Verdict

The Caramel Appletini lands at 9/10 for me. Would I buy it again? Yes, definitely. It's easily in my top 10 Bartesian^® pods, and maybe my top 5.

It's smooth, it's cozy, and it tastes like fall. Give it a little more apple and it would be a 10.
